AR HB1464

Requires each public school district to develop and adopt policies allowing parents, legal guardians, and students age 18+ to inspect instructional materials used in the educational curriculum upon request.

Establishes procedures for challenging or expressing concerns about instructional materials and classroom events or activities, with appeals available to the school principal, district superintendent, and district board of directors.

Grants the district board of directors final authority to decide whether to retain, limit availability of, or remove challenged instructional materials, and whether to maintain, modify, or cancel challenged classroom events or activities.

Sets the primary standard for determining appropriateness as whether the instructional material or activity is misleading, factually inaccurate, or otherwise inappropriate for the intended educational use.

Defines "instructional material" broadly to include printed, audio-visual, and electronic/digital content provided to students, but excludes academic tests and assessments.
