AR HB1495

Establishes a maximum gross weight of 90,000 pounds for five-axle vehicles transporting precursor raw materials for paper products, unfinished and unprocessed forest products, or logs, compared to the standard 80,000-pound limit.

Requires qualifying vehicles to have a minimum 51-foot outer bridge measurement and a maximum tandem axle limit of 40,000 pounds.

Prohibits these heavier vehicles from traveling on weight-restricted highways or crossing bridges with posted weight limits below the vehicle's gross weight.

Applies retroactively to January 1, 2021.

Declares an emergency clause citing COVID-19 pandemic supply chain disruptions and a shortage of paper products in the state, making the act effective upon gubernatorial approval or expiration of veto period.
