AR HB1710

Requires motor vehicle drivers overtaking a bicycle to pass at a safe distance of not less than 3 feet to the left and not drive to the right side of the roadway until safely clear of the bicycle

Establishes a fine not exceeding $100 for violation of the overtaking requirements

Increases penalty to a Class A misdemeanor conviction for violations resulting in a collision causing serious physical injury to the bicycle operator

Establishes a Class D felony conviction for drivers who purposely violate the overtaking law and cause serious physical injury to the bicycle operator
