Transfer requests under the Arkansas Opportunity Public School Choice Act must be submitted between January 1 and May 1 of the year before the school year in which the student intends to transfer.

Nonresident school districts must notify parents and resident districts by July 1 of the school year whether transfer applications have been accepted or rejected, or within 15 calendar days for applications received under emergency circumstances.

Students enrolled in or assigned to Level 5 — Intensive support districts or schools rated "F" may apply to attend schools in legally allowable districts or non-failing schools within their resident district that are nearest to their legal residence.

Applications under the Public School Choice Act of 2015 may be submitted through regular mail, email, or hand delivery, and school districts cannot require in-person filing; military families with transfer orders may apply within 15 days of base arrival rather than by the May 1 deadline.

Students cannot request a hearing before the state board if their transfer application is rejected for failing to be timely received by both the resident and nonresident districts.
