Beginning in the 2022-2023 school year, all Arkansas public schools must teach Holocaust education in a manner that generates understanding of the causes, course, and effects of the Holocaust.

Holocaust instruction must develop student dialogue on the ramifications of bullying, bigotry, stereotyping, and discrimination, while encouraging tolerance of diversity and reverence for human dignity.

The State Board of Education, in consultation with local, statewide, and national Holocaust education experts, shall develop and distribute curricula, standards, materials, and units for grade-appropriate instruction in grades 5-12.

"Holocaust" is defined as the systematic, state-sponsored persecution and attempted annihilation of Jews and other groups by the Nazi regime in Germany between 1933 and 1945, resulting in the murder of approximately 6 million Jews and 5 million other individuals.
