Correctional Field Sergeant Travis C. Wallace died on November 12, 2020, from injuries sustained while on duty with the Helena-West Helena Police Department when a suspect opened fire during an apprehension attempt.

Sergeant Wallace served as a five-year veteran of the Arkansas Department of Corrections, East Arkansas Regional Unit, and previously worked for the Helena-West Helena Police Department, Marvell Police Department, Crittenden County Sheriff's Department, Marianna Police Department, and as a School Resource Officer for Marianna School District.

Senate members express sincere condolences to Sergeant Wallace's family and commend his heroic actions and outstanding contributions to the State of Arkansas.

A copy of the resolution shall be transmitted to Ms. Thelma Watts, mother of Correctional Sergeant Travis C. Wallace, by the Secretary of the Senate upon adoption.
