AR SJR2

Allows the Arkansas General Assembly to convene in extraordinary session upon written request of a majority of members from each house, submitted to the Governor via petition.

Governor must issue a proclamation convening the assembly at the requested time and date, specifying the purpose of the extraordinary session.

Restricts business during extraordinary sessions to only the stated purpose until disposed of; after which the assembly may extend the session up to 15 days by a two-thirds vote of both houses.

If a disaster emergency is declared during an extraordinary session, the assembly may extend the session for the duration of the emergency by majority vote and may enact legislation to address the emergency, with adjournment required within 3 days of the emergency declaration ending.

Amendment becomes effective November 9, 2022, and requires approval by voters at the next general election for Representatives and Senators.
