James B. Argue Jr. (August 19, 1951 – May 3, 2018) served as President of the United Methodist Foundation of Arkansas for 35 years, growing the organization's assets from $67,000 to over $164,000,000

Served in the Arkansas House of Representatives from 1990-1996 and in the Senate from 1996-2006, including as Chair of the Senate Committee on Education and President Pro Tempore in 2005 and 2006

Led Arkansas's response to the Arkansas Supreme Court decision requiring education system reform and was recognized as a key architect in enhancing public education standards and funding

Received numerous awards including the Flemming Fellow designation (1997), National Humanitarian Award from Just Communities of Central Arkansas, and awards from Hendrix College and Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families

The Senate resolves to remember Senator Argue and recognize his contributions to Arkansas and his local community, with a copy of the resolution to be provided to his surviving wife Elise and family
