Johnathan Mitchell "Mitch" Petrus, a former New York Giants offensive lineman from Carlisle, Arkansas, died suddenly on July 18, 2019, at age 32.

Petrus earned two All-Southeastern Conference honors while playing offensive guard for the Arkansas Razorbacks after initially joining as a walk-on fullback.

Petrus played in the National Football League for the New York Giants, New England Patriots, and Tennessee Titans, and was part of the Giants' Super Bowl XLVI championship squad in 2012.

After retiring from the NFL in 2013, Petrus returned to Arkansas where he worked as a football analyst and sideline reporter for televised high school football games and served as chief of staff to Senate President Pro Tempore Jonathan Dismang in 2017.

The Arkansas Senate remembers and commends Petrus for his contributions to the state and expresses condolences to his family, with an appropriate copy of the resolution to be provided to the family by the Secretary of the Senate.
