HB 1008 Summary

• Repeals Arkansas Code § 20-7-142 and reenacts it in a more appropriate section within the Arkansas Code as § 20-77-148.

• Arkansas Medicaid Program shall provide coverage for continuous glucose monitors to individuals with type 1 diabetes or any other type of diabetes using insulin more than 2 times daily, or individuals with evidence of Level 2 or Level 3 hypoglycemia, or individuals diagnosed with glycogen storage disease type 1a.

• Beneficiaries must have regular follow-up visits with a healthcare provider at minimum every 6 months to assess for ongoing benefit of the continuous glucose monitor.

• Continuous glucose monitors can be obtained through a pharmacy prescription and are eligible for pharmacy rebates as a pharmacy benefit.
