AR HB1327

Allows law enforcement agencies to trade forfeited or seized firearms to federally licensed dealers for credit toward future equipment purchases, in addition to existing options of retention or sale.

If a firearm cannot be traded to a licensed dealer, the law enforcement agency may dispose of it as deemed appropriate.

Requires law enforcement agencies to maintain written reports documenting all disposed, traded, or auctioned property, including serial numbers, credit amounts obtained, auction proceeds, and explanations for credit usage.

Reports must be provided to the elected body overseeing the law enforcement agency within 30 days of trading a firearm or using credit with a dealer.

Becomes effective immediately upon Governor approval, applies emergency status citing past practice of law enforcement agencies using such credits for officer and public safety equipment.
