HB1733 - Right to Play Act Summary

• Creates the "Right to Play Act" as Arkansas Code 6-18-114, addressing student participation in interscholastic activities and school sports

• Students experiencing homelessness under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act are immediately eligible to participate in interscholastic activities at their enrolled school, with eligibility determined by the school's local homeless liaison

• Allows students who are members of school athletic teams to simultaneously participate in non-school athletic activities of the same sport during the season, without losing school team eligibility, except on days when the school team has scheduled practices, competitions, or games

• Prohibits dual participation in non-school athletic activities for five sports: football, basketball, baseball, softball, and volleyball

• Enacted April 12, 2023, and applies to public schools, public charter schools, and private/parochial schools in Arkansas
