AR HB1802

Increases the number of certified public accountant members on the Arkansas State Board of Public Accountancy from four (4) to five (5) members out of seven (7) total board members.

Removes the provision allowing one (1) public accountant position on the board and consolidates non-accounting professional positions into two members appointed at-large subject to Senate confirmation, with one representing consumers and one representing the elderly.

Allows board members who complete a full term to be reappointed for one (1) additional five-year term, replacing the previous restriction prohibiting reappointment until after a five-year lapse.

Declares an emergency due to recent board turnover from an untimely death of a board member, with five (5) of seven (7) positions needing to be filled.

Became effective upon Governor approval on April 12, 2023.
