HCR 1013 Summary

• Van Buren High School Marching Band won the Class 6A State Champion Concert Band title on October 31, 2022, marking their fifth state title in six years.

• Band accomplishments include Overall Grand Champion at Northwest Arkansas Invitational and Branson Invitational championships, plus a unanimous superior rating at Arkansas Region VIII Marching Championship.

• Sixty-eight team members qualified for Region VIII All-Conference Band, and 40 members qualified to audition for Arkansas All-State Band; six members earned First Band, First Chair All-Conference honors.

• The band received an invitation to perform at Walt Disney World's fiftieth anniversary celebration.

• House and Senate commend Director Ron Smith and the band for their 2022 championship, performance caliber, high standards, and students, with a copy of the resolution to be transmitted to Director Smith.
