Creates one (1) additional circuit judgeship in the Fifth Judicial District, bringing the total from four (4) to five (5) circuit judges.

The additional circuit judge shall be elected from the district, satisfy the same qualifications as other circuit court judges, receive the same salary and allowances, and serve a six (6) year elected term.

Counties composing the Fifth Judicial District shall provide courtroom, office facilities, and supplies for the new judgeship, funded through county treasuries and quorum court appropriations.

A court reporter and trial court administrator shall be provided for the additional circuit judgeship, with salaries fixed and paid in the manner provided by law for other circuit court staff.

The additional circuit judgeship shall be filled by election at the 2024 nonpartisan judicial general election, with the elected judge taking office on January 1, 2025.
