Dr. Kenneth Lloyd "Ken" Coon, Sr., was born October 14, 1935, and died December 8, 2022.

Served as charter president of the Tuckerman Jaycees (1966-1967) and Arkansas Jaycees president (1971-1972), named one of five outstanding state presidents in the nation.

Ran for Lieutenant Governor in 1972, Governor in 1974, and U.S. Congress in 1996 while working to establish the two-party system in Arkansas.

Served as Executive Director of the Arkansas Republican Party (1972-1976) and state chairman (1988-1990) before earning a doctorate in counselor education and establishing a management consulting practice in central Arkansas.

Senate extends condolences to his surviving wife Sue Lynn Thompson Coon (married 66 years), children Catherine and Ken, Jr., and directs the Secretary of the Senate to provide a copy of the resolution to the family.
