Arkansas Senate recognizes March 21, 2023, as "World Down Syndrome Day" in the state.

Down Syndrome is a naturally occurring chromosomal arrangement affecting approximately 1 in 800 babies, or about 6,000 births per year in the United States.

March 21st was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication of the twenty-first chromosome that causes Down Syndrome.

Access to health care, early intervention programs, and inclusive education are identified as vital to the growth and development of individuals with Down Syndrome.

2023 marks the eighteenth anniversary of World Down Syndrome Day, which supports individuals with Down Syndrome and their advocates.
