Stone County was created as Arkansas's 73rd county on April 17, 1873, marking its 150th anniversary in 2023.

The county is located in the Ozark Mountains and features natural stone architecture, the Ozark National Forest, Blanchard Springs Caverns, and outdoor recreation including world-record trout fishing on the White River and mountain biking on the Syllamo Mountain Bike Trail.

Stone County is known as "The Folk Music Capitol of the World" due to nightly musicians performing on the Square, the annual Arkansas Folk Festival occurring every April since 1963, and the Ozark Folk Center which preserves Ozark cultural heritage and supports the Music Roots Program.

The 150th anniversary celebration is being led by the Stone County Historical Society, the Stone County Leader newspaper, and a community committee using the slogan "Rock Solid at 150 – Foundation for Our Future" to celebrate heritage while funding youth-oriented services at the Stone County Community Center.

The Arkansas Senate recognizes and celebrates Stone County's 150th anniversary and directs the Secretary of the Senate to provide a copy of the resolution to County Judge Stacey Avey.
