Dr. Joseph Steve Bryant and his wife Sharon Gaye Collatt Bryant passed away unexpectedly on May 12, 2024, and the Batesville community is mourning their loss.

Dr. Bryant owned multiple pharmacies throughout Arkansas, including Bryant's Pharmacy & Health Care Center for nearly 40 years, served on the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy, and received the APA Pharmacist of the Year award in 2007 and the Bowl of Hygeia award posthumously.

Dr. Bryant lettered as a defensive end at Arkansas State University and was part of the 1970 football squad that went undefeated with an 11-0 record and won the small college division national championship.

The Bryants were devoted supporters of Arkansas State University, endowing the Steve and Sharon Pre-Med Scholarship starting in 2017, serving as season-ticket holders, and had the head football coach's suite and a football locker named in their honor.

The Senate expresses sincere condolences to the Bryant family and commends their contributions to Arkansas, with the Secretary of the Senate to provide a copy of this resolution to the family.
