Students removed from class due to violent or abusive behavior against a teacher or another student are permanently prohibited from being placed back in a class with that victim

Each time a teacher removes a student from class, a mandatory conference must be held before the student can return, with the principal, teacher, school counselor, parents, and student present

Students removed for violent or abusive behavior three or more times in one school year must be placed in an interim learning environment for the remainder of the year or disciplined under district policy

"Violent or abusive behavior" includes threatening language, throwing items that risk harm or property damage, physically abusing teachers or students, and similar actions presenting physical danger

Students with disabilities under IDEA or Section 504 are entitled to a manifestation determination review, with temporary placement in an interim learning environment for no more than 10 days during the review process
