When a city or town abandons a street or alley by ordinance, ownership automatically vests in the abutting property owners, with each owner taking title to the center line

Future sales of property abutting an abandoned street or alley automatically include the owner's portion of that abandoned street or alley, unless the seller expressly reserves it

For platted real estate, the plats are amended to incorporate the respective portions of abandoned streets or alleys into the abutting properties

The act applies retroactively to all streets and alleys abandoned by cities or towns after February 6, 1945

Pending court cases are not affected by these changes
