Health benefit plans in Arkansas must provide coverage for breastfeeding and lactation consultant services in outpatient settings beginning January 1, 2026

Coverage applies to services provided by International Board Certified Lactation Consultants and certified lactation counselors (counselors must be supervised by an in-network healthcare provider for reimbursement)

Services are covered during pregnancy through the extended postpartum period to aid in milk expression or infant nutrition

Coverage is not subject to deductibles, copayments, or coinsurance limits

Applies to private insurance plans, Arkansas Medicaid, ARKids First, the Arkansas Health and Opportunity for Me Program, and state/public school employee health plans
