SNAP recipients subject to work requirements under § 20-76-803 may fulfill their obligations by volunteering at any state-funded entity, including state agencies, political subdivisions, and municipalities receiving state funding

State-funded entities must accept and accommodate work requirement volunteers who present proper documentation, provide access for at least 4 hours per day when employees are present, and certify the volunteer's physical presence to the monitoring agency

Volunteers may be assigned activities requiring no experience or tasks matching their qualifications, and entities may restrict volunteers to only basic activities when not otherwise engaged

State-funded entities and their employees are shielded from liability for injuries arising from or experienced by work requirement volunteers, except in cases of reckless, intentional, willful, or wanton misconduct

Work requirement volunteers are explicitly ineligible for workers' compensation benefits, and the law takes effect January 1, 2026
