Violation of an order of protection remains a Class A misdemeanor for first-time offenses

Elevates violation of an order of protection to a Class D felony when committed within 5 years of a previous conviction for the same offense

Expands the felony enhancement to include prior violations of equivalent domestic abuse protection orders from other states or foreign jurisdictions

Felony classification requires that the protection order was issued after a hearing where the person received actual notice and had an opportunity to participate
