Private employers that do not already provide paid Veterans Day leave must allow veteran employees to take the entire day (November 11) as unpaid leave

Veterans must provide written notice at least one month in advance and proof of veteran status such as a DD Form 214 discharge certificate

Employers can only reject the leave request if the absence would adversely impact public health and safety, or cause significant economic or operational disruption as determined by the Department of Labor and Licensing

The law applies to former U.S. Armed Forces members and former or current Arkansas Reserve or National Guard members who were called into active military service

The Secretary of the Department of Labor and Licensing may promulgate rules to implement the requirements
