Arkansas driver's licenses and identification cards must display gender as "M" for male or "F" for female only; the Office of Driver Services is prohibited from issuing IDs with "X" gender markers or no gender information

Gender information on IDs must match the applicant's identity document (birth certificate, passport, or DHS-issued ID), with applicants whose documents show "X" or no gender required to self-designate as M or F on a state form

Applicants may request to amend gender information on their ID only by submitting an original or certified amended birth certificate from the Arkansas Department of Health or another state's vital records office

The Office of Driver Services may retroactively amend existing records of unexpired IDs issued with "X" gender markers to reflect M or F based on identity document records, with written notification sent to affected individuals
