Senate Memorial Resolution honoring James "Jim" Guy Tucker, who passed away February 13, 2025, at age 81, having served as Arkansas Attorney General (elected 1972 at age 29), U.S. Congressman (1976), Lieutenant Governor (1990), and 43rd Governor of Arkansas (1992-1996)

Tucker graduated from Harvard University in 1964 and University of Arkansas School of Law in 1968, served as a Vietnam War correspondent after being medically discharged from the Marines, and authored "Arkansas Men at War" documenting Arkansas service members

As Attorney General, he spearheaded Arkansas's first statutory criminal code; as Governor, he signed the Arkansas Civil Rights Act of 1993, worked to improve the prison system, and won reelection in 1994 with nearly 60% of the vote, carrying 73 of 75 counties

After leaving office, Tucker excelled in international business in Asia, established a Hong Kong fundraising arm for Heifer International, and developed sustainable agricultural projects for rural communities

Resolution directs a copy be presented to Tucker's surviving family, including wife Betty Allen Tucker, stepchildren Lance Alworth Jr. and Kelly Driscoll, and daughters Anna Ashton and Sarah Tucker
