Increases state fire safety committee membership from seven to nine members, all appointed by the governor for three-year terms.

Adds two new committee member positions: one fire chief from a fire district in an unincorporated area of a county with population under 500,000 persons, and one member of the public engaged in distributing, selling or providing liquid petroleum gas to consumers.

Changes committee meeting threshold from four to five members required to call a meeting.

Updates terminology from "chairman" to "chairperson" and "shall be" to "is" throughout the statute for grammatical consistency.

Maintains existing committee duties regarding adoption of state fire code, fee schedules, and arson detection reward fund allocation rules.
