HB 2535 - National Guard Tuition Reimbursement Summary

• Establishes that reimbursement is limited to no more than 700 qualified applicants per year, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis by application date.

• Requires applicants to maintain a minimum "C" average grade and prohibits reimbursement for any course the guardsman fails or withdraws from.

• Maintains existing eligibility requirements including active membership in an Arizona army or air national guard unit, satisfactory completion of initial active duty service, and 90 percent minimum attendance at drill dates and annual training.

• Prohibits the adjutant general from applying any lump sum reduction in appropriations against the guardsmen tuition reimbursement line item for fiscal year 2010-2011.
