AZ HB2536

Amends Arizona Revised Statutes section 28-2354 to allow one license plate to be displayed on a wheelchair carrier or wheelchair lift attached to a vehicle when two special license plates are issued pursuant to section 28-2409.

Requires that for vehicles issued two special license plates, one plate must be displayed on the rear of the vehicle and one on the operator's wheelchair carrier or lift when attached.

Maintains existing requirements that license plates be clearly legible, securely fastened, positioned at least twelve inches from the ground, clearly visible, and with the state name not obscured.

Preserves existing civil penalty provisions: $30 for initial violation of plate obstruction rules and $100 for violations within twelve months of a prior violation.

Retains restriction that peace officers cannot stop or cite drivers solely for obscured state name on license plate unless there is reasonable cause to believe another motor vehicle law violation exists.
