AZ HB2693

Amends Arizona Revised Statutes section 36-831 to add the state Department of Corrections to the hierarchy of persons responsible for burial arrangements for deceased prisoners.

Makes the Department of Corrections responsible for burial or funeral and disposition arrangements for prisoners who die in custody if no family members or other persons in the priority list are willing or able to provide burial.

Clarifies that the Department of Corrections duty applies only after reasonable efforts are made to locate family members or other persons with higher priority under existing law.

Makes technical corrections to existing statute language regarding grammar and cross-references to subsections.
