Department of Public Safety shall seek grants to implement a one-year pilot program using seismic sensors to monitor rural airport runways and other rural areas for illegal drug trafficking and human smuggling activity.

Department may request reimbursement of all application-related costs on grant applications that allow for such reimbursement.

Department of Public Safety must submit a report on the pilot program's effectiveness to the governor, speaker of the house, president of the senate, and secretary of state by July 1, 2012.

This section is repealed effective December 31, 2012.
