Physicians licensed in Arizona are not liable for damages for failing to diagnose, treat, identify a medical condition, or communicate examination findings when conducting independent medical examinations requested by parties other than the person being examined.

The liability exemption applies to three types of examinations: workers' compensation examinations under section 23-1026, preemployment medical examinations, and examinations to determine injury extent in personal injury actions or insurance claims.

Physicians remain liable only for personal injuries caused by the physician during the course of the medical examination itself.
