SB 1219 - Real Estate Licensure and Fingerprinting Requirements

• Adds "business broker" to real estate definitions and allows real estate brokers to act as business brokers where real property sale or lease is part of the transaction.

• Requires real estate license applicants to obtain valid fingerprint clearance cards issued under section 41-1758.03 instead of submitting fingerprints directly to the department.

• Changes renewal license periods from four years back to two years and modifies continuing education requirements to 24 credit hours per 24-month licensure period.

• Allows active licensees to voluntarily surrender their license if not under investigation or disciplinary proceeding, and prevents the department from reissuing a license after acceptance of voluntary surrender.

• Adds state real estate department to agencies subject to fingerprint clearance card requirements under sections 41-619.51 and 41-1758.
