AZ SB1240

Amends Arizona Revised Statutes sections 9-461.05 and 11-821 to require municipalities and counties to identify and consider undeveloped construction mineral resources, including aggregate materials and high-calcium limestone, in their general plans and county plans.

Requires municipalities and counties to collaborate with the state geologist and qualified private entities to identify mineral deposits suitable for extraction and use in future development.

Mandates that mineral resource planning emphasize sustainability, safe transportation, and wise use of mineral resources as part of the land use element of comprehensive plans.

Applies to both municipal general plans (section 9-461.05) and county comprehensive plans (section 11-821) adopted, readopted, or amended under this legislation.
