Beginning in the 2010-2011 school year, charter schools may revise their student count at any time before the first 100 or 200 days of instruction, rather than only after that period.

Beginning in the 2010-2011 school year, school districts shall determine initial student count using an estimated base student count derived from the prior year's final count, current registration, and anticipated population changes, with revisions required by May 15.

School districts and charter schools must report periodically on pupil enrollment and attendance before the 100th or 200th day in session, allowing the Department of Education to revise state aid and equalization assistance calculations based on reported data.

Charter schools sponsored by the state board of education or state board for charter schools may revise their student count and budget before May 15 if they over or underestimated initial enrollment.

The bill requires conforming legislation to be prepared by the Legislative Council Staff for consideration in the 2011 legislative session.
