SB 1421 Summary

• Requires the state transportation board to prioritize repairs and maintenance of state highways extending into or through tribal lands above all other projects in fiscal years 2009-2010 and 2010-2011.

• Prioritized highways take precedence over projects in the long-range statewide transportation plan and statewide acceleration needs identified under Arizona Revised Statutes sections 28-7009, 28-7010, and 28-7011.

• Overrides existing distributions and expenditure agreements for monies from the state highway fund and statewide transportation acceleration needs account.

• Designated as an emergency measure effective immediately upon passage.
