Establishes parole eligibility for persons convicted of murder for crimes committed before August 8, 1973 after serving 25 calendar years.

Persons with consecutive sentences for other offenses become eligible for parole only on the consecutive sentence, not the murder conviction.

Parole eligibility takes effect immediately upon passage of this legislation.

Department of Corrections must notify all eligible persons of their parole eligibility within 30 days of the effective date.

Legislation aims to correct sentencing inequities for persons sentenced for the same crime to ensure equal opportunity for sentence review.
