SB 1029 Summary

• Allows persons suspended or revoked for a first DUI refusal (section 28-1321) to apply for a special ignition interlock restricted driver license after completing 90 days of suspension and alcohol screening.

• Permits persons convicted of a second DUI violation (section 28-1381) or extreme DUI (section 28-1382) to apply for a special ignition interlock restricted driver license after completing 45 days of revocation and required screening/treatment.

• Enables persons convicted of a first aggravated DUI (section 28-1383) to apply for a special ignition interlock restricted driver license if they meet criteria and complete required screening and treatment.

• Restricts special ignition interlock licenses to limited purposes: employment travel, school, treatment/screening facilities, probation officer visits, physician visits, and interlock device service.

• Authorizes online requests for administrative hearings related to DUI license suspensions, in addition to existing written/mailed requests.
