SB 1074 Summary

• Amends Arizona Revised Statutes Section 15-1441 regarding community college district board membership and elections.

• In counties with populations of at least 3 million persons, adds two additional at-large governing board members beginning July 1, 2012, in addition to the five precinct-based members.

• Establishes that each voter may vote for no more than one district at-large candidate per election.

• Changes term lengths for board members in counties with 3 million or more residents from six years to four years beginning at the next election after June 30, 2012.

• At the first at-large election, the two candidates receiving the most votes become elected members serving four-year terms if they are qualified electors residing in that county.
