Amends Laws 2010, chapter 211, section 8 to remove the December 31, 2010 expiration date on the attorney general's authority to act at the governor's direction in defending challenges to Laws 2010, chapter 113 (the immigration law).

Allows the governor to direct counsel other than the attorney general to represent the state in defending challenges to Laws 2010, chapter 113, without the December 31, 2010 time limitation.

Authorizes the speaker of the house of representatives and president of the senate to direct counsel to initiate legal proceedings or represent their respective chambers or the legislature in defending challenges to Laws 2010, chapter 113.

Applies retroactively from and after December 31, 2010.

Declares the act an emergency measure necessary to preserve public peace, health, or safety and makes it operative immediately.
