Creates a new crime of evading arrest or detention for intentionally fleeing from a peace officer known to be acting under official authority and attempting to lawfully arrest or detain the person.

Classifies evading arrest or detention as a class 1 misdemeanor under normal circumstances.

Elevates the offense to a class 2 felony if the flight results in the death of another person as a direct result of the peace officer's attempt to arrest or detain.

Elevates the offense to a class 3 felony if the flight results in serious bodily injury to another person as a direct result of the peace officer's attempt to arrest or detain.

Exempts motor vehicle flight from this statute, meaning fleeing in a vehicle is not covered by this section.
