SB 1555 Summary

• Prohibits state and local government employers from withholding or diverting any portion of employee wages to pay for labor organization dues.

• Amends Section 23-352 to add a new subsection B establishing the restriction on union dues withholding by the state, counties, municipalities, school districts, and other political subdivisions.

• Removes Section 38-612(B)(3) which previously allowed payroll deductions for dues in recognized employee associations that met specified membership thresholds.

• Maintains existing exceptions for wage withholdings required by federal or state law, those with prior written employee authorization (except for union dues), and those related to good faith disputes over wages owed.
