AZ HB2004

Amends Section 20-236 of the Arizona Revised Statutes relating to insurance business transaction requirements.

Requires insurers to respond in writing within 30 days to financial responsibility verification requests from the Department of Transportation as mandated by Section 28-4143.

Imposes civil penalties of up to $250 per violation on insurers who fail to respond to verification requests, with a maximum aggregate penalty of $20,000 per six-month period.

Authorizes the Director to impose penalties only after holding a hearing and upon certification by the Department of Transportation that an insurer has failed to comply with the verification requirement.
