Amends section 25-1004 of Arizona Revised Statutes regarding child custody proceedings involving Indian children.

Clarifies that child custody proceedings pertaining to Indian children as defined in the Indian Child Welfare Act of 1978 are not subject to this chapter to the extent governed by the federal act.

Requires Arizona courts to treat tribes as equivalent to states when applying child custody articles 1 and 2 of the chapter.

Mandates that child custody determinations made by tribes under factual circumstances substantially conforming to the chapter's jurisdictional standards must be recognized and enforced under article 3 of the chapter.
