Requires the auditor general to conduct a special audit examining how the state department of corrections monitors private prison facilities.

The audit must evaluate security, inmate management and control, inmate programs and services, facility safety and sanitation, administration, food service, personnel practices and training, inmate health services, and inmate discipline.

The auditor general must submit the audit report with specific recommendations to improve private prison monitoring to the speaker of the house, president of the senate, and governor by December 31, 2012.

Applies to all private prisons operating in Arizona under statutory authority.
