HB 2320 Summary

• Amends Arizona Revised Statutes Section 16-204 to consolidate election dates for counties, cities, towns, school districts, community college districts, and special districts.

• Eliminates the separate election date provisions for large cities (population 175,000+) and requires all elections to be held on the second Tuesday in March, third Tuesday in May, the tenth Tuesday before the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November, or the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November.

• Maintains that elections for secondary property tax assessments must be held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November.

• Excludes charter committee elections and charter proposal elections conducted under the Arizona Constitution from the consolidated election date requirements.

• Directs the legislative council staff to prepare conforming legislation to align other statutes with these consolidated election date provisions for consideration in the fifty-first legislature.
