Municipalities must randomly test, inspect, and calibrate 10% of parking meters each calendar quarter.

If 75% or more of sampled meters are operational and correct, the municipality certifies that its parking meters are accurate.

If less than 75% of sampled meters are operational and correct, the municipality must test all remaining meters and repair any that are not operational.

While repairs are pending, drivers issued parking tickets involving malfunctioning meters are presumed not responsible for the violation.
