SB 1390 Summary

• Amends Arizona lobbying regulations to clarify that special events for legislators can include parties, dinners, athletic events, entertainment and other functions, with expenditures reported but not allocated to individual legislators.

• Modifies the entertainment ban in section 41-1232.08 to create an exception for entertainment in connection with properly reported special events.

• Removes the requirement to report details of parties, dinners, athletic events, entertainment and other functions from the definition of special events that must be reported, allowing aggregate reporting instead.

• Applies special event reporting provisions to events for members of the Arizona Board of Regents using the same standards as events for legislators.

• Maintains existing gift limitations of $10 maximum value per calendar year and prohibitions on gifts designed to influence official conduct for both private and public lobbyists.
