Department of Education shall issue a request for proposals to insurance carriers to provide statewide personal liability insurance for teachers employed by school districts.

Coverage applies to conduct falling outside a teacher's scope of employment and not already covered by district insurance.

Department must award a contract to the most efficient and cost-effective insurance carrier on or before December 31, 2012.

Teachers may authorize their school district to withhold wages for purchasing the selected liability insurance coverage.

This insurance serves as an alternative to personal liability coverage provided under section 15-502, subsection G.
